The countdown to Christmas can be a busy time of year and while some people enjoy all the festive hustle and bustle, others can find it overwhelming.
Our series of Mindful Christmas Pauses videos show how we can use what’s around us at this time of year – from twinkly fairy lights to carols and festive foods – to help us slow down for a few minutes and enjoy a calmer Christmas. Each video focuses on a particular sensory aspect of Christmas, for example what we might see, and allows time for quiet exploration of this one aspect.
Nicola Williams, TrinityLearning’s Education Development Officer explains, “We know this approach has been found to be really useful as a coping strategy in overwhelming situations and we are very aware that many people, both children and adults, are currently finding many situations challenging.”
Alongside our Mindful Christmas Pauses, we also have our Christmas Storytelling Videos and simple crafts from last year. Our Storytelling Videos take children through the process of learning the Christmas Story using Storytelling School’s method, with their kind permission. These could make a great Nativity Play alternative if your plans have recently had to change. All our activities use simple, readily available resources and are designed to be used in the classroom or from home.
