Thank you so much for volunteering with us here at TrinityLearning. You are joining an amazing team of volunteers who each play a vital role and enable us to work with children, teachers and wider school communities. We are very grateful and proud to work alongside them.

We want all our volunteers to feel safe, comfortable and confident and we hope the following information will help with that.

TrinityLearning Safeguarding and Policies
All of our policies that cover volunteers, staff and trustees can be found on our website. Some are specifically for volunteers who work directly with children and young people, but all those volunteering for TrinityLearning are expected to be familiar with policies that are relevant to their role.
View TrinityLearning Safeguarding and Policies on our website.

Please be aware that some additional school specific documents will need to be read before working with children in a school. These include:

  • School Safeguarding Policy – including details of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and any Deputy Designated safeguarding leads.
  • School Behaviour Policy – these are school specific and are very important. They detail how children should be spoken to, as well as details of appropriate rewards and sanctions within that school.
  • School Whistleblowing Policy and the policy for allegations of abuse made against staff and volunteers working with children.
  • School Mobile Phone Policy – these can vary from school to school. Please make sure you read the policy for the school you are volunteering in. It is good general advice to either leave your phone at home, leave it in your car or ask to leave it at the school office until the end of your session.

Schools may also have their own volunteer handbooks and volunteer policies which they may want you to read, as well as other policies or procedures which are relevant to your specific volunteering activity. Please remember that volunteers are bound by the same requirements of confidentiality as paid staff.

Volunteer Training
All volunteers who work with children receive our in-house Safeguarding training as well as relevant project training (e.g. for our Thinking Books project). This will be arranged by our Education Development Officer and scheduled training dates will be added to our training website page.

Volunteer Support
We offer lots of different activities to make sure volunteers feel supported and connected, these include: Thinking Books meet-ups; one-to-one support if needed; termly Volunteer Newsletters, and an annual Volunteer Celebration event which is a great opportunity for volunteers, trustees and staff to get together.
We also regularly update our Facebook page with all our latest news.

Volunteer Voices
We value the expertise and skills our volunteers bring and will always listen to feedback and ideas for how to improve our support to school communities.
