Our Experience Easter project will run from 11- 22nd March. Some children will join us in Trinity Church and others will take part from their classroom through our online version. Volunteers work alongside us to make sure everything is ready for the hundreds of children that will take part – so there’s always plenty to do! If you’re thinking of volunteering check out some of the ways you could get involved.
Volunteer storytelling in Trinity Church
Experience Easter gives pupils of all faiths and none a meaningful experience of the Easter story and provides peaceful opportunities for pupils to think about their own families, experiences and feelings. Our volunteer storytellers share a simple, scripted story with a group of primary school children. As well as listening, the children take an active part in the stories in lots of different ways – from writing their hopes and dreams onto palm crosses to working their way through their angry and fearful thoughts using plasticine.
“During Experience Easter [I’m] always moved by the face-to-face contact with schools and the children’s and staff reactions.” Experience Easter volunteer
Volunteer to make up Experience Easter packs
Every child that takes part in Experience Easter – whether in the church or in their classroom – receives a resource pack which they use as they go through the workshops. The pack contains a flannel, a palm cross, plasticine, beads, a sticker sheet and a set of stickers and can be taken home after the event. The packs play an important role in making sure children are able to get the most out of the learning that Experience Easter provides.
“The best bit about volunteering [for me] is being part of something valuable and valued.” TrinityLearning volunteer
If you’d like to join us as an Experience Easter volunteer, make up some packs or just find out more contact our Education Development Officer, Nicola Williams on nic.trinitylearning@gmail.com
TrinityLearning is committed to Safeguarding and safer recruitment and all our volunteers who work with children are DBS checked.
